All I Ask

I told you once
a long
time ago.
Truth be told
I’ve told
you
so many times.
Stay away.
Keep your distance.
You know the
consequences
of getting
too close.
I run, yet
you wonder why.
And so it goes.
If you only knew
what I could
give
if I felt free.
Unrestrained.
I’m insatiable.
But there is
a price.
Stay away.
Keep your distance.
I can promise you
a paradise
you’ve never
known.
But I
must be free.
Not owned.
I can take you
to the
valley of the gods.
And beg for more.
But all I ask is
Stay away.
Keep your distance.
You called me
uncontainable
and I
thought
for one moment
you understood.
But I was wrong.
You didn’t stay away.
You didn’t keep distance.
Don’t feel
alone.
There will be
more.
And each time
I’ll tell them
if you want me
Stay away.
Keep your distance.
One more time.
