Bibs

Don’t leave me on the road,
summer asphalt
My body turned to dry rot
I’m raw meat

Sizzling and squirting away
My guts on display
Black capes and wings
Surround me

Don’t tear me apart
Treat me kindly
And don’t forget
To break my itty bitty hollow white poles
And crush my skin
like the soft embers
Of a cigarette
Our time spent,
Insignificant
Like the dust
Blowing in the wind

Lay roses on me
And honor my memories
For the treasures that they were
They mean everything to me
