Transformation

And then the day came…
That dark, dreadful day that we’d feared for so long…
And when it did
Everything changed,
Everything came to an end…
But it was already ‘written’
That it had to end, that it will end
Because it was never ‘destined to happen’ after all!

You became just a name in so many names…
A bitter-sweet memory, in so many memories…
But unlike all the names, all the memories…
You left a mark on my soul
somewhere very deep inside me…
Every word, every feeling
You etched it on the horizon of my being…
And I transformed…
just like an ugly caterpillar transforms into a beautiful butterfly.

There was nothing left of my old self anymore
Because “I” was not the same as before!
You had torn me open and then sewed me back together again
Into such ‘unknown’ intricate patterns,
And my parts were stitched so differently now
That I could not fathom the ‘transformation’ that took place inside me…
You were the ‘transformer’ of my being
The catalyst that brought me to my own ‘end’…

F.K. Jadoon is a girl who likes to dream and her dream is to become a recognised writer someday. She has recently done her Honours in English Literature. She's an avid reader of literature and is most likely to be found with her nose in one book or another or just writing away in her little diary which is always kept close to her heart. In a society where creative writing is mostly not considered a serious enough field, she has battled her way through a fair amount of grumbling, disappointment and being taken lightly. And yet, she has never let her inner fire die as she keeps on pouring the gasoline of passion and determination on the dying embers of her inner voice. She has succeeded so far and hopes to do so in future.
