Unity

“As a woman I have no country.
As a woman my country is the whole world.”
                                                                           ~ Virginia Woolf

Our Country is divided.
The shadow borders of our sacred lands, fractured.
As people bellow their hollow words
Echoing hate and disdain for people of another color
To incur the wrath of bigotry, racism, and unmasked hate.
A division planned, by the very forces which now divide our lands
A divide and conquer mentality,
While American people bury their heads further within intolerance sands.
How is it that you cannot see hate and disdain are wrong?
The American dream was never lost,
Only tossed aside by greed and duplicity
Of actions which no longer bring satisfaction
To those in need.
It’s time to make our stand
To cast fear and doubt aside
Before blind envy and lies
Further divide
The land of the free,
The home of the brave.
“Alternative facts,” shall never separate those who are awake
For it is fact,
These lands were meant for you and me,
To include the masses
In search of shelter from man-made war storms.
To turn life away due to repugnance of ignorance
Is not the Christian way,
Nor the founding principles of a land created to harbor lost souls
In desperate need, yearning for a place to call home.
