For Medicinal Purposes Only

You are so crazy
I can’t take it anymore
I will not have this kind of drama in my life
You are strange and unpredictable

Am I CRAZY?
What makes you think that?
Is it because I grind my teeth every night, chasing demons in my dreams?
Is it because I go from UP to down in a split second?
Is it because my tolerance for bullshit is at an all-time low?

Am I STRANGE?
Maybe I am
I know that I am aloof
consumed with worry, and
locked down in a constant state of panic

Am I DRAMATIC?
Do you think my words,
and
treacherous inconsistencies
make me dramatic?

Your life.
You can’t take “it”?

“It” meaning me

Let’s face it; that is shorthand for
You don’t accept me
Everything I am
My insecurities
discontent
and
my desire for stability

All I can say to that is
May your life blossom
I wish you all the blessings that you deserve
Oh, and fuck you very much

  1. Love this! We need more of this to empower women to take control of their lives. “Fuck you” indeed! How many times have we wanted to say that and let our good little girl upbringing stop our tongue from uttering the words!
Thanks Julie! Love your work, all of it, prose, poem and everything in between!
