Humanity: Raw & Unfiltered
As I stand at the base of “The Giant,” a near three-hundred footer, I can think of nothing but our girls. How they swam to us against all odds. How they too are delicate yet strong. How they feel pressed against us, how their hair always smells like baby powder. These trees are magnificent, but they have nothing on the wonder of the thirty-year-old fuck ups who made the most beautiful creatures I’ve ever seen.
Hindsight is not 20/20.
Hindsight is God allowing you to never forget what you or someone else massacred.

he whispered and squeezed tighter and
tried to meld two into one
like lonesome clumps of wet clay.
The suicide rate is up 63% for women aged 45-65 and up 200% for girls aged 10-14. A worrying statistic but for some reason, this statistic and the damage privilege bias is causing to vulnerable women and girls is often ignored.
It no longer seems so farfetched that a central document of Western humanity, the Torah or Old Testament should have been led by a woman’s prose, for she is the author of Genesis and such was her genius to describe without hesitancy or fear, Creation itself.
The ruthless cold shakes my being,
flooding me with memories,
reminding me of the days I walked naked,
freezing to death by my consuming pain.

They pause long enough to kiss under a tree whose limbs are bursting with grandchildren.
