Bird Watching

It’s happened a lot lately, flash across my line of vision, then gone. At first I thought of glare, reflection off my frames. But I know better. I dreamed last night of lovers, and this bird has a message.  He’s pulling something raw and alive. I thought they ate only expensive seed, my sunflower hearts. I’m not horrified. I know about tearing and bleeding. When you’ve bled in front of your lover, and after that he flies away and does not come back–not even after the long weekend alone, still bleeding, every second like a fresh burn– he won’t be back.
