Grief

It grabs you
won’t let go
sits on your heart
and waits to erupt
in an unseemly
untimely manner
for you to stammer
in words that lack
self-expression to
reveal this confession
unfolding and then
folding back
inside your body
like waves of
unchartered waters
that stand inside
of you like a
shattered glass
statue waiting to
crumble and cut
your arteries if
you cry too hard
sigh too hard
and lastly let
go not hard enough
as that is
too tough!
