I Do Not Want to Be Told

These are the best days of my life,
while I long for sleep and my daughter
eats only scrambled eggs for two weeks straight.
I was so young when the economy crashed
I had nothing to lose, and still, I had everything.
Have you ever cried it out? I have
found another me inside my sagging
Walmart sweats. I have stayed the course like a tightrope
walker, and still there are times I wobble. So do not say it.
Because in my baby’s bedroom, I already miss her
nightlight. That moon-shaped hole inside my chest.
