effervescent me

am not effusive
with emotions,
think me unfeeling.

on the contrary
feel too much.
heart-full reactions
often embarrass;
rational thinking.

am quiet
in praise
and with thanks
it’s because
– as goes the cliché –
still waters run deep
and sometimes
to disturb those depths
is to cause a monsoon.
