Your Bed

Forever and a day is
what I once will have
it said that/if I can
make your bed
I can be led
to see the world
through your eyes
and not die until
I see the wit
in your life’s grit.
So let there be sacred
sighs of our relief
until the dawn reaches
another shore
where we can sit and stare
at each other’s hands
while holding the
glass of cheer we
kept inside our
mind’s eye and
pray for it never
to end … at least
not in a bitter way
… as your bed wants
me to stay …
